A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, jackasses, and pigs, the wife asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the husband replied, "in-laws." 한 부부가 서로 말을 한마디도 하지 않은 채 차를 타고 시골도로를 한참 달리고 있었다. 한판 말다툼을 한 이들 부부 중 어느 쪽도 먼저 양보를 하려 들지 않았다. 차가 노새와 당나귀ㆍ돼지 등이 있는 농가를 지날 때 아내가 빈정대며 말했다. "당신 친척들이네?" 그러자 남편이 대꾸했다. "그래, 처가 쪽 친척들이지."
