'포춘 코리아' 올 상반기 창간

미국 타임사-한국일보사 공동 발표

경제난 돌파에 나침반 역할

세계적인 비즈니스 매거진 'FORTUNE'의 한국어판 'FORTUNE Korea'가 올 상반기 한국일보사에 의해 창간된다.

한국일보사와 미국 타임사는 12일 타임사가 발행하는 포춘의 한국어판을 한국일보사가 국내에서 독점적으로 발행하는 라이선스 계약을 체결했다고 서울과 뉴욕에서 동시에 발표했다.

포춘코리아는 미국, 유럽 등 전세계에서 발행되는 포춘의 한글번역기사와 자체 취재기사로 구성되어 월간으로 발행된다.

포춘이 영어가 아닌 현지어로 발행되는 것은 드문 일(한국이 4번째)로, 한국일보사와 타임사의 오랜 기간에 걸친 공고한 파트너십의 결과이다. 한국일보사는 타임사가 발행하는 '골프매거진'(Golf Magazine) 한국어판을 자매지인 서울경제신문사를 통해 1999년부터 성공적으로 발행하고 있다.

양사는 골프매거진 한국어판이 남성 대상의 명품잡지 중 선두주자로 자리매김한 것처럼, 포춘코리아 역시 이른 시일 내 1등 경제지로 성장할 것으로 예상하고 있다.

장재구 한국일보 회장은 “세계 최고 권위의 비즈니스매거진 파트너가 된 사실을 한국일보사를 대표해 기쁘게 생각한다”고 밝혔다. 장 회장은 “편집권 독립을 포함한 포춘의 선진적인 저널리즘 정신과 기법을 한국일보사가 함께 공유할 것”이라며 “경제난국에 출범하는 포춘코리아는 독자들에게 국내외 비즈니스 이슈에 대한 최고의 정보를 제공해 경제난 돌파구의 나침반 역할을 할 것”이라고 말했다.

송태권 포춘코리아 매니징 에디터는 “포춘을 통한 국내 경제저널리즘의 업그레이드가 경제의 활력소로 작용할 것”이라고 말했다. 그는 “포춘은 1930년 미국 대공황 초기에 창간되었으나 독자에게 예리한 통찰력과 정보를 제공함으로써 대성공을 거두었다”며 “포춘코리아 역시 출범 환경이 그 당시와 흡사하고, 지향하는 정신도 일치한다”고 말했다.

타임사는 라이선스 계약을 통해 현재 25개국에서 29개 잡지를 현지어로 발행하고 있으며 포춘, 골프매거진, 인스타일, 피플, 리얼 심플, 스포츠 일러스트레이티드 등이 대표적이다.

Korea's Leading Newspaper to Publish Korean Edition Starting Spring 2009

Seoul, January 12-- FORTUNE will launch a local edition in Korea beginning this spring, it was announced today by Hugh Wiley of Time, Inc. and Chang Jae Ku of Hankook Ilbo.

FORTUNE Korea will be published monthly, in Korean, through a license agreement between Time Inc. and Hankook Ilbo, a major daily newspaper. It will be FORTUNE's fourth foreign-language edition, following FORTUNE China and FORTUNE Turkey as well as the twice yearly special issues of FORTUNE Greece.

The launch of FORTUNE Korea follows a successful partnership between Time Inc. and Hankook Ilbo in publishing a Korean edition of Golf Magazine, which has become a leader in ad sales and one of the leading men's luxury magazines in Korea. Time and Hankook Ilbo expect FORTUNE Korea to be a top competitor in the Korean business magazine market.
